The paths to a career in veterinary marketing are as diverse and dynamic as our membership. Veterinary professionals often move from clinical practice into the pharmaceutical and animal industries by taking on roles in a Technical Services capacity and develop an interest in marketing from there. Qualified marketing professionals may move into roles in the veterinary industry through an interest in animals (or a particular species), through family and networking connections with veterinary professionals, or because a particular employer is a good fit for them in other ways.
Having landed a role, many opportunities exist for individuals to further their knowledge and gain additional qualifications through membership of the Veterinary Marketing Association as well as via other intensive and distance-learning routes. Membership of the VMA and attendance at VMA educational events, however, confer additional benefits including the tailoring of course content to marketing within the veterinary sphere as well as the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals in similar roles.
